We’re delighted to announce the opening of Kate Wrigglesworth’s Movement in Landscape exhibition tonight at The Gate Gallery.

Kate Wrigglesworth is a freelance practising Artist, Designer & Dancer based in Bewdley, Worcestershire. As well as working on commissions for paintings, Kate also work as an artist in residence, in schools and communities.

Kate works in a variety of mediums from paint, textiles, collage, to three-dimensional sculptures, using colour and composition to express emotion and create atmosphere. The flow of line in her paintings is influenced by her love of dance which adds poetry and inspiration to the work. Kate’s degree is in Theatre Design set and costume and this continues to be an influence.

Kate has developed over the years, an expressive form of painting, a poetic language with invented symbols and shapes developed from the environment in which she lives. The source of her work is based upon dreams, invented stories and created myth. The work explores characters placed in different landscapes. These characters are fictional, figurative and abstract.

The exhibition opens from Wednesday 25th June – 18th July, with a gallery opening on Tuesday 1st July from 6 – 8pm.
